In implementing its strategic growth plan, Wallick has recently signed a purchase contract to acquire four senior/Section 8 communities in Indiana totaling 323 units.

$3.3 million in Federal Grants Received to Assist Wallick Residents

In September, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $3.3 million in grants to provide resident services at 27 Wallick senior communities. The three-year grants average $40,000 per community per year. "These grants will allow us to have resident service coordinators at each community," said Feusse. "The coordinators play a vital role working with our seniors and helping them age in place."

Wallick's partner, National Church Residences, led the grant writing process and will administer the program.

Since January, Wallick has increased its units under management by 1,700, expanding into Missouri, Michigan and Minnesota. It also has open commitments for another 800- plus units.

"While we're pleased about this growth, our primary focus remains on the quality of our service delivery," said CEO Tom Feusse. "We feel that if we can be successful on the quality side, our partners will reward us with more business, and they are."

To date, Wallick manages nearly 14,000 units in 210 communities and nine states throughout the Midwest.
